We are practically never asked for references, perhaps because we have been around for a long time. Most of our business comes from satisfied customers who refer clients to us.

However, we can provide letters of reference and recommendation, or any other bona fides, upon request. One example is the following letter, or email, that grew from one of those rare requests. In 2005, a Mrs. Walton of Kingsport, Tennessee (whose husband is Fred Walton --retired, famed local high school coach) asked for some M & M references. I immediately asked a then recent customer, Mr. Galyean, if he would write her. Of course, we appreciate his kind words and trust that his feelings are typical of our customers. Ironically, I have still not met Mr. Galyean and further irony - Mrs. Walton decided that she was sufficiently comfortable with M & M to send her deposit for her move even before she received the reference letter! Now it turns out that I will finally meet Mr. Galyean because he has decided to take us up on the discounts that are traditionally offered to all M & M customers regarding purchases of furniture, mattresses, appliances, etc. Mr. Galyean will soon visit our Clintwood, Virginia Showroom (of Modern Hardware & Furniture / True Value's Just Ask Rentals) located on Main Street.          - John Stanley
